A Book Compilation for the Modern Rider

August 19, 2017

Whether you're an avid reader, or someone who abhors reading (is there such a person!?!), participating in the equestrian sport is tough. The connection here, is that past horsemen have the ability to share their knowledge with us through written language. So, I compiled a list of some of the bookshelf basics. I am not including a description because the sites each have a summary of their own. In addition, I made sure to provide a link to several different book dealers for you to peruse, and a link to other recommended reading sites. Happy Book Hunting!

Recommended Reading Lists/ Links

USDF Recommended Reading. This one is for Fourth Level, but they have other lists for the beginning and intermediate rider. https://www.usdf.org/education/instructor-trainer/recommended-reading.asp

An additional study on horse behaviour: https://pubs.usgs.gov/tm/02a09/pdf/TM2A9.pdf

My personal favorite: a list of recommended reading for equine studies.
